Craft mela

Poompuhar, the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited, is organising a crafts mela at Srinivasa Sagar Kalyan Mantap, Jayanagar 2nd Block, near Ashoka Pillar till July 25. The exhibition has decorative handcrafts, handcrafted textiles, jewellery etc from various states.  

Literary evening

Anjum Katyal and Vinay Sharma will read excerpts from ‘Correspondence’ by German poet Paul Celan and Austrian writer Ingeborg Bachmann.

Comic Con India is presenting a special session with Amar Chitra Katha, their first ever workshop in the City on July 23, 12 pm to 2 pm at Mocha Cafe, Koramangala, 577, Kalyan Mandap Road, 8th Block, 80 Feet Road. The Amar Chitra Katha team will take the audience through the process of creating comics, beginning with a short video on the subject followed by a detailed session on the process by the team behind their latest issue, ‘Tirupati’. The session will end with an on the spot comics exercise with the audience.


Kathalaya will be conducting Kathotsava 2011 from July 31 to August 2. As part of this, storytelling and puppetry performances by an Indo-Swedish team will be held at Alliance Francaise at 3 pm, 5 pm and 7 pm on July 31. Storytelling and puppetry workshop will also be conducted at Ashirvad Community Center, St Mark’s Road between 9.30 am and 3.30 pm on August 1 and 2. For details, call 26689856.
