going strong Ajay Devgan

The 42-year-old actor was seen in three action movies  – Qayamat, Gangaajal and Zameen – in 2003 but opted for more dramatic outings like Khakee, Apaharan and Aakrosh later. Ajay decided to team up with friend Rohit Shetty for the action remake while they were making comedy Golmaal 3.

“It was Rohit who had seen the Tamil version of Singham and wanted to make it in Hindi. When he came with the film’s script to me, I was very happy with it. In any case it had been eight long years since I did a hardcore action film. Rohit said that he wanted me to be in his version of Singham and I was game for it,” said Ajay.

It was during a casual conversation on the sets of the film when Shetty brought up the film’s idea. Shetty debuted with action film Zameen, which starred Ajay but the hit duo later went on to make comedies like Golmaal series, ‘All The Best’ and ‘Sunday’. They would soon begin working on Bol Bachchan.

“We have always gone by whatever has come our way. Whenever a good script has come our way, we have picked it up. Singham was one such film,” said Ajay.
This is Ajay’s seventh film with Shetty and this also happens to be the number of movies directed by the young film-maker and the actor is happy that their combination is working well.

“We will not make any loud declarations. It’s good enough to see that our combination is working well,” said Ajay. Bol Bachchan is going on floors next month and Golmaal 4 as well as ‘All The Best 2’ are also on the cards for the actor-director duo.
