'ICC probing bookies presence'

Last Updated 04 August 2009, 16:43 IST

PCB Chief Operating Officer, Saleem Altaf told PTI that at the moment the PCB was aware the ACSU representative in Sri Lanka was inquiring into the matter of suspected bookmakers. “But the ACSU follows a proper procedure and they investigate suspicious incidents in detail and closely. So we are not expecting them to come up with a report very soon,” Altaf said.

He said the ACSU officer in Colombo would obviously report back to his unit but the PCB had told its team management to cooperate with any inquiry.

PCB reported an incident to the ACSU officials in Sri Lanka when team manager Yawar Saeed said that some suspicious persons had tried to establish contacts with his players during the Test series at the team hotel in Colombo.

The suspected persons stayed on the same floor as the Pakistan team and Yawar had them shifted to another floor after complaining to the hotel management.
