In-form Bhullar confident of a strong show in Selangor

Indias C Muniyappa, Lahiri hope to strike it rich

The 21-year-old Bhullar is the man in form following his breakthrough triumph in the Indonesia President Invitational two weeks ago and a play-off loss in Brunei on Sunday.
Bhullar, seventh on the Asian Tour Order of Merit, has also won three times in India this year, besides topping the International Final Qualifying for British Open.

Bhullar is happy with the Seri Selangor layout which reminds him of the courses at home. “I have been hitting the ball really well and putting well these past few weeks and my experience on the Asian Tour has certainly developed my skills. My confidence level has changed so much and I like this golf course and feel I can play well here,” said Bhullar.

“It’s a really good test as there are a lot of holes where you need to hit good shots into the greens.” Bhullar plays with Thaworn Wiratchant and Scott Hend in first two rounds. Also high on confidence is C Muniyappa, who logged his best Asian Tour result with a 13th place in Brunei last wee. Looking to take a leaf from Bhullar’s book will be 2006 Asian Games silver medal winning team-mates -- Anirban Lahiri and Chiragh Kumar -- who are also in the field. Other Indians in the field include Gaurav Ghei, Digvijay Singh, Rahil Gangjee, Manav Jaini and Himmat Rai.

Title holder Ben Leong of Malaysia hopes to put his poor season behind him when he tees off.

Barely 12 months after winning his maiden Asian Tour title, Leong intends to ride on his happy memories at the Seri Selangor Golf Club in an attempt to reproduce his best golf this week.
