Sports quota: Plea rejected

Rakesh and Adarsh, both ball badminton players had secured ranks of 5,000 and 10,000 respectively, in the Common Entrance Test.

They moved the High Court after they were denied admission under the sports quota. The petitioners said that they were denied admissions since the sports federation was not a recognised body due to factionalism within.

But the sports federation was listed in the brochure of the Common Entrance Test, issued along with the application form.

Justice B S Patil dismissed the petition imposing cost for misleading the students, saying “They Karnataka Examination Authority could have checked it before including it in the CET brochure.”
