BSc International Marketing from University of Southampton

University of Southampton’s School of Management is inviting applications for its full time BSc course in International Marketing. With this new international degree programme the School of Management aims to provide students a unique perspective of marketing in UK, France and Spain.

The BSc International Marketing will provide students with an up-to-date knowledge of international marketing that is grounded in both marketing theory and practice. The focus would be on delivering value internationally for both customers and shareholders using technology in both the management of customer experience and in engaging with customers through digital media.

The programme duration is four years and involves an international placement year in the third year which is compulsory for all students. The international element of the BSc International Marketing programme is delivered through a partnership with an international partner university, where their students study along with Southampton students in the second year and Southampton students study abroad (in France or Spain) along with their students in the third year. The students will then return to their home universities to complete the 4th and final year of study.

The fee for the October 2011 session is £10,820. Students who wish to enrol for the course can apply through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) www.ucas.ac.uk. Professional programme in Fashion and Lifestyle
Pearl Academy of Fashion has announced admissions to the Professional Programme in Fashion and Lifestyle for the academic year 2011-2012.

The one-year certificate programme offers a candidate the opportunity to explore the world of fashion media and communications across all the media formats. The curriculum and training focus on development of a range of specialised communication techniques required to manage public relations for fashion houses or servicing fashion brands for PR agencies.

Certificate programmes in Energy
Jain University, Bangalore, in association with TUV Rheinland, Germany is offering six months Certificate Programmes in Energy. The certificate programmes offered are: Environmental laws, Standards and Certification for Energy; Global Energy Economics; Financial Management; Energy Management; Energy Auditing; Future of Energy Markets; Computational Fluid Dynamics.

Marine courses
The Institute of Maritime Studies, situated at Vasco-Da-Gama, Goa, offers attractive career opportunities for degree and diploma engineers to join the Merchant Navy on Indian and international ships. It offers: One-year pre-sea training in Marine Engineering for graduate mechanical engineers; Two-year pre-sea training for Diploma holders in Mechanical/Shipbuilding/Electrical Engineering.

Admissions to the two-year course in Marine Engineering for Diploma Engineers in Mechanical, Shipbuilding, Electrical streams and for the one-year course for BE (Mechanical) Engineers has commenced. For eligibility requirements visit: www.imsgoa.org.

Admissions are through a written entrance exam, followed by personal interviews, and medical and psychometric tests.Placement in shipping companies is guaranteed for all candidates who complete the training satisfactorily. Diploma holders joining the two-year course are required to pass Class IV Part A examination conducted by the Mercantile Marine Department, Government of India after completion of training at the Institute. Degree holders do not need to take this exam.

NASSCOM’s social innovation honours
NASSCOM Foundation has announced the NASSCOM Social Innovation Honours 2012 (NSIH) in collaboration with Genpact. Scheduled to be awarded in February 2012 at the NASSCOM India Leadership Forum, the awards aim to showcase projects that demonstrate best practices in using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for social transformation. Entries for the countrywide competition are now open.

NSIH recognises unique projects, from NGOs, NPOs, corporates, government/PSUs, individuals / groups, promising concepts/ideas from students and multi-stakeholder partnerships. Shortlisted projects get a chance to be mentored by stalwarts from the venture capital and angel investing community.

Applications are invited from ICT-led social innovation projects in the following categories: Not-for-profit organisation; For-profit organisation as a business model; For-profit organisation through corporate social responsibility; Government body; Individual/group; Student concept;  Multi-stakeholder partnership.

Training programme from AMCAD
AMCAD is conducting a training programme for the general public titled “Empower your  power” which covers topics like positive attitude, success sutras, winning strategies, managing failures. The programme is to be conducted on August 7, 2011 between 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. In the afternoon there is a session titled, ‘The Teacher - Best and Beyond’ which covers topics like better teacher, positive attitude, study success sutras, best and beyond. Learn Mandarin
The Bangalore chapter of the Chinese Institute of Chennai conducts a 40-hour course that teaches conversational Mandarin, and reading and writing skills in Pinyin.
