He finally approached the consumers' forum seeking relief. The IV Forum has ordered The Country Club (India) Ltd  to pay back Rs1,18,666 to Mahesh Kumar along with costs of Rs 10,000.

B S Gopalan was also promised a site in Coconut Grove and paid up Rs 1.15 lakh and suffered the same fate. The Forum has ordered the Club to return his money.

Ramachandra Bistu Bhat was another consumer who was promised a lot of freebies by this Club and paid up Rs 1.5 lakh. He found out that there was no site in Coconut Grove, Tumkur, as promised. He drew a blank at their office in Indira Nagar. The Country Club officials did not appear before the Forum, which has ordered repay the sum along with interest at 18 per cent.

Insurance claim

Rupa Patel had obtained a health insurance policy from Oriental Insurance Company, Bangalore. It was valid during the time when she was admitted to a hospital for treatment of leukemia. But when she made a claim for the amount spent by her for treatment, the Company repudiated the claim on the ground that the claim has been made belatedly.

It contended that the claim should have been submitted within 30 days and hence it could not be settled. The IV Forum found the Company guilty of deficient service and ordered to pay up the claimed sum to the policy-holder along with cost of Rs 2,000.
