State No 1 Chitra, who was beaten by Uma in the State-ranking billiards tournament two-weeks ago, looked jittery to start with, while the 44-year-old Uma showed mastery over the game with accurate shots that fetched her the first frame 70-47.

A resurgent Chitra showed great fluency to fly to a 30-3 lead in the second frame but Uma did well to close in on Chitra. A see-saw battle for the yellow ball lasted 15 minutes before Chitra drew level, winning the second 54-28.

The players, returning to the table after a ten-minute break, looked sluggish to begin with. Former billiards national champion Uma chose to play safe and her ploy worked as Chitra committed three fouls. Uma jumped into a 60-55 lead with breaks of 10, 14, 12 and 14 but floundered an easy chance to take the frame with a foul on the deciding black ball, allowing Chitra to forge ahead.

The two-time WLBSA world billiards champion Chitra showed complete composure as she racked up the fifth frame 76-47 to avenge her loss in the billiards event.
