Poojary performs ritual for Sonia's health

Renovated temple was inaugurated by Rajiv Gandhi

As many as 17 Congress leaders including MLA Abhayachandra Jain, KPCC Secretary Ivan D’Souza, KPCC General Secretary K P Nanjundi, Congress leader Harikrishna Bantwal and others led by Poojary performed ‘Urulu Seve’ (a ceremony where you roll around the temple) for the speedy recovery of National Congress President Sonia Gandhi who has undergone surgery for an undisclosed illness in USA.

The poojas at the temple started at 10.30 am and the Belli Rathotsava, Special Maha Pooja, Bonda Abhisheka, Panchamrthaabisheka, Sarvajanika Annasantharpane were also performed.

Speaking to the media after the pooja, Poojary said that the country needs Sonia Gandhi. She is a model of patriotism and sacrifice.

She has facilitated several developmental works. She has made education for children below 14 compulsory and also many people have been benefited with the rural benefit programmes such as the employment schemes, he said and requested people to offer prayers in churches, mosques, temples and other religious places for her speedy recovery.

It may be recalled that the Gokarnartheswara temple, after renovation, was inaugurated by former Prime Minister Rajeev Gandhi.

Stating that Billava Mandala President Jaya C Suvarna and Harish Kumar, suffering from cancer, were healed after offering prayers in the temple, Poojary said K P Nanjundi has been miraculously saved from four accidents and he is a main devotee of the temple.
“This is the second time I am offering ‘Urulu Seve’. I had offered it earlier when actor Rajkumar was kidnapped by Veerappan,” he said.

Poojary refused to answer questions on the political situation in the state.

MLA U T Khader, former MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty and other Congress leaders were present on the occasion.
