The NGO had organised a programme to create awareness on terminal illness, under National Rural Health Mission.

Speaking at the district-level review meeting held at Old Fort premises on Saturday, to create awareness programme on terminal illness, a NGO from Mandya was given a sum of Rs 2,86,598 by DHO Dr Thimmaiah and Taluk Health Officer Dr Mahadevaiah.

The two medical officers have issued the cheque illegally, said National Rural Health Mission supervisor Dr Anil Davan.

The Speaker directed Assistant Commissioner Dr M R Ravi to probe into irregularities in the health and family welfare department.

There are allegations that ASHA workers are not paid properly. The AC was asked to submit the report within a month.

A sum of Rs 10 lakh has been released to 290 Primary Health Centres under National Rural Health Mission.

However, there are allegations on misappropriation. The complete details should be submitted.

Tribals survey

The proposed survey of tribals residing in Nagarahole reserve forest must be completed by December. The facility must be given to them.

Bopaiah said “NGOs who mislead tribals should be kept away from the survey. There is a need to provide permanent solution to the tribals” and added that the officials must try to provide title deeds to all tribals under Forest Rights Act.

“We can not give 10 acre land to the tribals. However, the tribals should survive and the forest should be preserved,” Bopaiah added.

Rain damage

Bopaiah said property has been lost in the rain which lashed the district for the last few days. The compensation for damage to houses and crops must be given at the earliest.

Three Tahsildars should estimate the damage and submit the report to the Deputy Commissioner at the earliest.

The funds released for the development of roads under Chief Minister’s special package should be utilised at the earliest. He expressed displeasure over delay in the completion of work undertaken under Pradhanmanthri Grameena Sadak Yojane. The contractors who failed to complete the works must be blacklisted. In charge Deputy Commissioner K M Chandre Gowda, ZP President Ravi Kushalappa and others were present.
