Wipro eyes mega dollar deals in Q2

“Despite slowdown, we expect to rope in some good clients and clinch some large deals in the region of 100 million dollar range,” Senapathy told reporters here on the sidelines of a seminar organised by Confederation of Indian Industry.

Indicating that hiring will shortly pick up pace, he said once the deals are clinched, the company would need more heads to service the new clients.  Senapathy further said that Wipro would open new near-shore centres in Latin America, Eastern Europe and some other low-cost destinations.

TCS pits for railway deal
Meanwhile, Tata Consultancy Services has been eyeing to confirm close to Rs 2,500-crore  outsourcing contract from the Indian Railways, Chief Executive & Managing Director S Ramadorai said.

“CMC and we’ll certainly look at it very seriously, it needs lot of experience. We have done projects for the British and US Railways,” Ramadorai told reporters on the sidelines of the CII meeting.

CMC is a Tata group software company. Wipro too is trying to grab the contract.
On fresh acquisition plans, Ramadorai said that organic growth would drive the company’s future strategies.
