Nagamarapalli had moved the High Court alleging irregularities during the recent Lok Sabha polls. The petitioner had said that Singh showed false figures of Rs 11.37 lakh as election expenditure, while he spent over Rs 30 lakh.

The petitioner said the election officer at Bidar was earlier Deputy Commissioner, Bidar and often had differences with him. He said that the officer during the polls, colluded with Singh to ensure his defeat. He said that there was irregularities during the counting process.

In another petition, Nagamarapalli’s son Surya Kanth Nagamarapalli alleged  irregularities during the polling by Rehman Khan, the present MLA. This, he said, had led to his defeat.
The petitioners have sought directions to declare the election as null and void. Justice Ajit Gunjal has ordered notice to Singh and Khan.

Plea rejected

The High Court has rejected the application to vacate the stay on the order to appoint nine members committee to the Kollur Mookambika Devasthanam Trust (KMDT) on July 27, 2009.

The  HC had ordered a stay on the appointment of the nine-member committee to the KMDT by Commissioner, Endowment department following a petition by Harikrishna Punaroor and others.

They had challenged the order of the Deputy Commissioner, Udupi district, dated July 27, 2009 appointing members to the temple trust.

Appealing against the stay, the members to the Committee Krishna Prasad Adhyantha and Srinivas Kalluraya said that the appointment is not made based on the recommendations of the Chief Minister, but an independent decision by the endowment Commissioner.

However Justice Ajit Gunjal said that the letter by Chief Minister clearly indicates the appointment has been influenced by him.

“This is not the first time such appointments are happening even the previous governments and ministers have done so. It appears that the Ministers and the Chief Ministers hardly read the papers they are signing,” he said.
