Modi fires fresh salvo at Rahul

Last Updated 15 August 2011, 17:47 IST

Modi was speaking at the Independence Day function, held at the parade ground in Nadiad town of Kheda district, in central Gujarat. “They lift children of poor and downtrodden people in their lap and click photographs with them. Isn’t that shameful that despite ruling the country for over 50 years, there is abject poverty,’’ he said without naming any Congress leaders.

Modi also attacked the Union government for using constitutional bodies to insult Gujarat.

He dared the anti-Gujarat forces to try and stop the ongoing development of the state.

“There is a sinister attempt to mislead the people of the state. The forces opposed to Gujarat are spreading lies to discredit the state which had embarked on the path of development,’’ Modi said.

He warned his detractors that the state would not tolerate any  anti-Gujarat campaign and the people would give them a befitting reply if they indulge in such a campaign.
