The temple, said to be very popular in the area, is also known as Haluru.

The dislocation of the pillar is said to be the act of treasure hunters, according to the residents.

In the morning hours, farmers go to their fields, passing by the temple. By evening, the area becomes deserted, making it easy for the thieves to execute their act.

According to the residents, the Garuda Gambha had been earlier removed by the thieves, in search of treasure. It had been installed again amid religious ceremonies. It is for the second time that the pillar has been dislocated.

The residents have urged the authorities concerned to take  appropriate action against the treasure hunters.
