A group of irate villagers attacked the women in their residences late last night at Salna Tea Estate accusing them of practising witchcraft after some people fell ill in the area.
A woman, identified as 37-year old Rupa Boro, was killed in the attack and seven others seriously injured.
The injured have been admitted to Nagaon Civil Hospital.
Tension continues to prevail in the area, the police said.
