Galleryske is presenting ‘Synesthesia’, a group show featuring works of Andrea Anastasio, Luigi Anastasio and Avinash Veeraraghavan, till September 3.

‘Inception’
Genesis Art Gallerie is presenting ‘Inception’, an exhibition showcasing works of art by Jatin Das, S G Vasudev, Yusuf Arakkal, Milind Nayak, Tapan Kumar Dash, G R Miishra, Nikhil Ranjan Pal, Tejender Singh Baoni, Babu Eshwar Prasad, Pratul Dash and Bhee­maraya Devikeri.
The exhibition will be on till August 26, from 11 am to 7 pm. The venue is 12/25, 11th Main Road, 3rd Block, Jayanagar.

‘Rangapravesha’
G A Anusha will be presenting her ‘rangapravesha’ on August 21, 10 am at Ravindra Kalakshetra, J C Road.

Kuchipudi recital
Natyasaraswathi Kuchipudi Academy is organising Akhila Karnataka Kuchipudi Nrithyotsav, on August 21 at Seva Sadan, 14th Cross Malleswaram.

The festival will commence with lecture-demonstrations and interactive sessions from 10 am to 1 pm with gurus like Vedantam Ramu, Vedantam Radhesyam, Veena Murthy Vijay and Lakshmi Rajamani followed by exclusive dance performances in the evening from 5 pm to
9 pm.

Classical steps
There will be a Bharata Nrityam performance by legendary classical dancer Padma Subrahmanyam on August 19, 6 pm at Chowdiah Memorial Hall. This is being by organised by Arka Foundation. For tickets, call 9844272010, 9901411369.

Bharatanatyam
The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) will be holding a bharata­natyam dance recital by Tarikavalli from France under the ‘EFCEP Series’ on August 19, 6.30 pm at Yavanika, State Youth Centre, Nrupathunga Road. Entry is by invitations.

‘Nirantara’
Ananya is presenting Nirantara, a programme for young talents, on August 21, 5.30 pm at Ananya Sabhangana, 91/2, 4th Main, Malleswaram. On the occasion, there will be vocal recitals by Abhinandini, a disciple of D V Nagarajan, and Pavani Kashinath, a disciple of R Neela Ramgopal. They will be accompanied by Venkatesha Joshier (violin) and Anirudhdha (mridangam).

Hindustani Sangeeta Kalakara Mandali and Gokhale Institute of Public Affairs are organising ‘Smt MuthuBai and Sri NageshRao Mane Memorial Concert’. ‘Virasat’
Spic Macay will be hosting ‘Virasat 2011’ in the City. The artistes scheduled to perform over the next four months include ‘Vidwan’ T V Shankaranarayanan (Carnatic vocal), Mysore Nagaraj and Mysore Manjunath (Carnatic violin), Shri Keremane Shivananda Hegde (yakshagana), Madan Gopal Singh (sufi), Shri Margi Madhu (koodiyattam), Ustad Bahauddin Dagar (rudra veena), Ghanakanta Bora and troupe (sattriya dance).

‘Dhrupad’ vocal
Sursagar is presenting the ‘Nirmala G Kalambi Memorial Concert’  at Canara Union Auditorium, 8th Main Road, 13th Cross, Malleswaram. As part of this, Uday Bhawalkar will present ‘Dhrupad’ vocal. ‘Alapan-Dhrupad’ will be presented on August 20, 6:30 pm and ‘Alochan-Dhruvapada Dhara’ on August 21, 6.30 pm.

Mixed treat
Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha is presenting a vocal concert by Trichur V Ramachandran and team on September 10, 5.30 pm and a flute performance by A P Sarvothama and team on September 24, 5.30 pm.

Live show
‘Bandgalore’ will perform live on August 21, 8.30 pm at Bflat, Indiranagar. ‘Bandgalore’ is an ensemble of four heavy weights from the rock and jazz genre. Sanjeev T is an award-winning guitarist/ singer-songwriter and is the lead guitarist for A R Rahman.

Suresh Peters is one of the most popular singer/drummers in South India. Rzhude David has endeared himself to every Bangalorean as one of the best bass guitarist/singer and songwriter on the rock and jazz rock scene in the City. Aman Mahajan is the brightest star among the young crop of musicians in Bangalore who have come into the jazz scene.

POT POURRI
Craft world
Srinidhi Arts and Crafts Foundation is organising ‘Hasthanjali’, a crafts ‘santhe’ at Chitrakala Parishat from August 19 to 28. It will have live demonstrations from master craftsmen. On sale will be Tanjore paintings, cane and bamboo products, handcrafted saris, pure silk designer saris, dress materials, Madhubani paintings, wooden carvings etc. The exhibition will be open from 10 am to 8 pm. 

German course
Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan is holding German language courses at Basavanagudi. Classes will be held at the Institute of Foreign Language and Culture, 77,
Vani Vilas Road, Basavanagudi. The course is Level A1.

Film festival
Bangalore Film Society, in collaboration with a consortium of institutions, will be organising the 6th edition of the largest international film festival on water — ‘Voices from
the Waters 2011’ from August 25 to 28 with a day-long conference on water on August 29.

The festival will be organised in six venues across Bangalore. The main venue is Alliance Francaise de Bangalore and the inauguration is at Christ University Auditorium.

Apart from screening of internationally acclaimed films on various water themes, the other attractions of the festival are painting and photo exhibitions, art installations, interactions with film directors, water scholars, grass root level water voices and water songs.

There will be three days of special screenings of the films for the high school
students at Bal Bhavan, Cubbon Park.

Storytelling
‘Little Cloud’, AHA!’s newest programme, is bringing storytelling for children. To be held on August 20, 21, 26 and 27, a bouquet of stories await little ones who are in the age group f four and nine.

Padmavati Rao and Abhishek Majumdar will perform stories in their unique styles. One needs to register for ll the four sessions together.
