Addressing a press meet here, he said that the State cabinet has approved the draft of development plan prepared for the State and the same will be submitted to the Centre.
He said that the Central Planning Board member Kasturirangan also had appreciated the plan. “The plan was prepared keeping in mind all sections of the society. It will be a giant effort which will lead the State into an integrated development,” he said adding that the State budgets will be prepared based on the plan for the next two years.

Talking about State’s economic situation, he said that the State still did not recover from the affects of recession. “There is a huge decrease of about Rs 8,000 crore in the profit in the State. But still all development works are being taken up without any obstacles as usual and all employees are being paid on time,” he added.

State could earn an additional income of Rs 1 crore through Excise Department as a result of stringent measures adopted by the government.

The State had taken loans as per the conditions stipulated by the Reserve Bank of India, he said.

Reacting to Opposition Leader Siddaramaiah’s allegations with regard to State Finance, he said that he could have debated the issue inside Vidhana Sabha.

“Siddaramaiah, who was sitting quiet in the Vidhana Sabha, is misguiding people by giving baseless statements now,” he charged.

Explaining about the power shortage, Shankaramoorthi said that there is 40 per cent difference between the demand for power and its production. Energy Minister K S Eshwarappa had decided to reduce the power supply to compensate the difference. However, the BJP Executive Committee taken a decision not to implement power cut, he said adding that there is no controversy in it.

MLA C T Ravi, BJP district President Bhojegowda and Town Municipality President H D Thammaiah were present.
