Basavaraj Butta, a 45-year-old weaver, had gone missing since July 14. His family lodged a complaint at the Vidyanagar police station.

A decomposed body was found near Unkal Lake, on August 5.

The family members of Butta presumed that the body could be Basavaraj’s, noticing six toes on the left foot of the body.

They performed his last rites spending thousands of rupees.

On Thursday, Basavaraj returned home. He told his bewildered family that he was in Bangalore all the time, working at an ice factory.

His family members revealed that Basavaraj had squandered money. On fear of being reprimanded by them, he had gone ‘missing.’
