'Bill on corruption is need of hour'

Hold discussion on Jan Lokpal bill

Speaking to the media persons on Saturday, he said that the people are in favour of Anna Hazare’s fight because they want a strong Lokpal Bill to be implemented to control corruption in the nation.

“There is a necessity for a comprehensive discussion on Lokpal Bill that the Central government is planning to introduce and the Bill proposed by Anna Hazare. Without holding the discussion it is not possible to tell which is the best one. However, a bill to curb the corruption is the need of the hour,” he said opining that the attitude of the cabinet ministers strongly shows that they are against the introduction of Jan Lokpal Bill.

“If at all the Bill is introduced, then the entire credit goes to Anna,” opined Subbaiah. He added that politicians like Raja, Kannimozhi and Katta Subrahmanya Naidu are behind the bars due to the law against corruption. This law must be strengthened so that no one can escape from the hands of law,” he said.

Describing the wave of support received by Anna, he said that people’s wave is not against corruption, but it is against the action of the Central government.

Forceful protest

A K Subbaiah alleged that some of the organisations are forcefully using the school and college students in the protest in favour of Anna. The people from lower and middle class families who are actually the victims of corruption are not taking part in the protest. The protests can turn out as a mass campaign only when these people willingly come out to the streets against corruption, he stated adding that Gandhiji’s fight was a real people’s movement as people from all strata of society backed him.

Advocates Kunhi Abdullah, K R Vidhyadar were present.
