The two-day event encompassed many cultural and literary events which showcased the ethnicity of India in all its grandeur.

More than 300 students from across nearly 50 colleges in the City took part in the events like skit, dance, drama, music organised by the Tourism Studies wing of the Department of Commerce.

Actor Upendra inaugurated the fest and said he felt proud after seeing the initiatives taken by the girls to explore traditional India and their interest in studying the different cultures.

The first day was dedicated for cultural events like dance, music and skit. Actress Priyanka Upendra was the special guest on the occasion and she seemed to enjoy all the events.

Prashanth and his team comprising Murali, Goutham, Rakesh, Avinash, Koushik and Jitendra from VET First Grade College performed a Tamil folk dance. Ramya Vasistha, Sneha Kappan and Ganesh of ‘Beat Gurus’ judged the events.

“As part of the activities of the Tourism Studies of our department, we have organised this fest for the first time so that our students can understand the diverse cultures of India. We received good response from the participating colleges and a lot of sponsors came forward to associate with us which shows the organising ability of our girls,” said Professor Vasantha Valli from the Department of Commerce.

Cultural teams of the college like Natya, Ninada and Nupoor also performed on the occasion. A team of 40 students from Nupoor showcased the cultural richness of India through a specially choreographed dance on the occasion. A skit from one of the participating colleges about the Devadasi system touched the audience the most.
