Jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh stolen

Thieves damage CCTV camera and break open the locker

According to police, the thieves barged into the shop by breaking open the wall, damaged the CCTV camera, broke the locker where the jewellery was kept and escaped with the booty.

The owner of the shop, Ramlal, came to know about the theft in the morning.

Techie robbed

Three thieves entered a house and robbed a man of his laptop, gold and silver ornaments, wristwatch and other valuables at knifepoint at Chikka Adugodi under Madiwala police station limit on Tuesday night.

Subin Raj, a B Com student, was alone at the time of the incident.

3 held for extortion

The Banaswadi police have arrested three persons for allegedly extorting money from builders, developers and real estate agents.

Police said Gangadhar, Madan Kumar and Santosh, all residents of Pampa Mahakavi Road and surrounding areas, had threatened a builder recently and demanded that he pay Rs one crore to them.

Woman kills self

A woman was found hanging at her residence in Tavarekere police station limits on Tuesday night. Arya Devi, a software engineer and a native of Kochi in Kerala, did not report for duty on Tuesday. Her roommates, who returned in the evening did not get any response when they knocked on the door. They later found her hanging from the ceiling.

The police arrived at the spot and broke open the door. The reason behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained.

House owner stabbed

A man was stabbed and injured seriously after he refused to rent out his shops to a local goon in the Mahadevapura police station limits.

Police said Asgar and his four henchmen stabbed 64-year-old Yaqub and injured him critically at Ever Green Street on Sunday afternoon. Yaqub is undergoing treatment at the Victoria Hospital and his condition is stated to be critical, police said.
