HC notice to Janardhan Swamy

The petitioner, M Karumbayya had moved the court stating that Swamy submitted a certificate stating that he was a resident of India, when was a Non Resident Indian . The petitioner further said that, Swamy was a green card holder and a permanent resident of USA. As per the law, a person cannot be a citizen of India if accepts he is a citizen of a foreign country .

The petitioner said that having failed to convince the election officer, he is approaching the Court and requested to declare his election as null and void. Justice A N Venugopalagowda has ordered notice to Swamy, State Election Commission and others.

Advocate pulled up

The High Court on Friday pulled up a City-based advocate for unnecessarily making Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, a  party in a Public Interest Litigation, related to limestone quarry lease in Gokak taluk of Belgaum district.

Chief Justice P D Dinakaran has directed to delete Yeddyurappa’s name from the Petition related to the pollution due to limestone quarry.  The registry has also been issued with a memo for not checking the name of Chief Minister in the list of respondents.
