romantic Bhavana and Ganesh.

Stopping short of going into the details, Shekar says ‘Romeo’ is based on the classic romantic character. “It stresses on the how a loving relationship transforms itself over a period of time and marriage happens to be the launch pad for this transformation,” he adds.  Shekar points out that the character in the film reflects the characteristics of the classic Romeo.

“The protagonist in this script has a personality that reflects the idiosyncrasies of the Romeo of yore,’’ he says. Shekar has finalised the cast for the film. Ganesh will be playing Romeo and Malayalam actress Bhavana, who also acted in ‘Jackie’, will be playing the female lead. He says he scouted for the right people who would suit the characters. On why he chose Bhavana, Shekar says, “The female character in the film is educated, principled, disciplined and highly temperamental.

After watching Bhavana and her performances over the years in other films, I felt she would reflect the persona in the script.” About Ganesh, Shekar explains that he had Ganesh in mind even when he was writing the script for the film. “With the roles he has played so far, he has intricately carved a niche for himself among other actors,” he points out. The lead characters of the film have opposite nature.

Ganesh is a carefree, happy-go-lucky kind of guy and Bhavana is more responsible. “Somehow the two fall in love and become inseparable. They promise to never give up on each other and stay truthful. But things take a drastic turn when they decide to get married in a hurry. That’s the beginning of the end,” explains Shekar.

The rest of the cast comprises Rangayana Raghu, Sadhu Kokila, Avinash, Sudha Belawadi and Sihi Kahi Chandru. The music is by Arjun Janya who has also done Kempegowda, Birugaali and the cinematography is by Vaidy. The producer is Ramesh Kumar P. The shooting for the film has already begun.
