HC adjourns hearing on BSY's petition

During the hearing, senior counsel Ram Jethmalani, who appeared on behalf of Yeddyurappa, denied the charges that mining lease was granted to South West Mining company,    stating that it was granted way back in 2007. Without naming then chief minister, the counsel said: “It was somebody else who was the chief minister at that time,” he said.

When the court pointed to the U V Singh report, stating that it needs to look into what the report says, Jethmalani said, “In the entire document, there is no mention of the former chief minister. Justice Hegde (former Lokayukta Santosh Hegde) has been misled,” he said.

When the court pointed out that several cheques were issued to the Prerana Trust, which runs to Rs 50 crore, the counsel submitted that it was just Rs 30 crore as the cheques have the same number. Due to an error, it was mistaken as Rs 50 crore.
