A dangerous volcanic activity

HBO presents Dante’s Peak on August 10 at 9 pm starring Pierce Brosnan, Linda Hamilton, Jamie Renee Smith and Jeremy Foley.
A volcanic researcher, Harry Dalton (Brosnan), is busy exorcising the ghosts of his troubled past, when he is asked to investigate minor seismic activity in the tiny town of Dante’s Peak.
To his horror, he finds that the area is actually on the verge of major volcanic activity. To make matters worse, the townspeople, led by their mayor, are about to sign a lucrative development deal, which the volcanic activity will endanger.

Back with a bang

Bhairavi Raichura, who plays Anandi’s mother in the serial Balika Vadhu, has been missing from the show for quite long time.
She was shown to be on the char dham ki yatra in the show and now she is back from it.
While on the show, Bhairavi was on this yatra, off screen she was on a family trip to Australia.
“I was in Australia for three weeks. It was a family trip where I was accompanied by my husband, mother and sister.”
When asked about her trip, she says excitedly, “It was a much needed break and I made the most of it by participating in numerous adventure sports. The most terrific experience was skydiving from an altitude of 14,000 feet. It was a breathtaking freefall for
60 seconds.”
As for her next track in the show, she says, “I will be informed by Anandi’s bapu that he has mortgaged a part of our land for Sugna’s wedding gift. I will be tensed on hearing this and to find out what happens after that, you have to watch the show.”

From writing to direction

Writers turning into directors is a very natural phenomenon in the industry today.
This is because even the writers are so involved in the whole process of making a
serial, that they learn the nitty-gritties of direction.
The same goes for Shashi and Sumeet, who have written serials like Uttaran and Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki (which completed 1000 episodes recently).
The two have gone ahead and become producers and directors for their new serial — Sajan Ghar Jaana Hai, airing on Star Plus.
They had already written the script for the serial, but Vivek, the head of the channel, asked them to produce and direct the serial themselves as he felt that they would be able to do justice to it.
So here they are, directing their first ever serial and by the looks of it, it is getting pretty good ratings as well.
