Govt support sought to revive rural sports

 
Women Power:  Women taking part in tug of war.  DH photo Speaking after inaugurating the marshy field sports organised by Samskrithika Kala Sangha of Jayapura, he said though rural sports are still ‘alive’ in rural areas, it requires government support to survive in the future.

Coffee Grower K S Srinivasa Gowda presided. Samskrithika Kala Sangha President K P Sundaresh, Koppa taluk Raitha Sangha President D B Rajendra and others were present.

Marshy field race, tug of war and carrying the sand bags and others sports were held. The winners are—Tug of war in men’s division Bilalakoppa team (I), Kadabagere team (II). In women’s division —Lokanathapura team (I) and Kattemane team (II). In carrying sand bags—Mahesh Nyamahalli (I), Bhojaraj (II), Vaishak (III). In marshy field race women’s division—Sumitra (I), Lalitha Lokanathapura (II), Nagarathna (III)=. In men’s division, Mahesh Nyamahalli (I), Bhojaraj (II), Vaishak (III). In boys category Sugama (I), Sadhik (II) and Sridhar (III).
