Book publishing studies

Admissions are open to a one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Book Publishing Studies (PGDBPS), 2011 at the University of Calcutta. The PGDBPS course is being run in collaboration with the Publishers & Booksellers Guild (Kolkata). The course aims to enable students to take the challenge of starting their own publishing venture. Application forms are available till September 6, 2011. An admission test will be conducted on September 10, 2011 (from 12-30 pm to 2 pm). The programme will commence on September 26, 2011.

Graduates in any discipline (Honours / Pass/ General/ Vocational etc) from a recognised university may apply. Application forms are available at the CU Sales Counter, Asutosh Building (Ground Floor), College Street Campus, Kolkata-700073 on payment of Rs 200.
Application forms can also be downloaded from the University website. However, in such cases, please enclose with the application a crossed bank draft/ bankers cheque of Rs. 200 drawn in favour of ‘PGDBP, CU’ payable at Kolkata.

New programme from XLRI-AHEL

XLRI and Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited (AHEL) have collaborated to offer a one-year full-time residential programme – ‘Executive Diploma in General Management & Health Care (ExD-GMH)’. The programme will be jointly taught by faculty from XLRI and Apollo Group. Twenty eight courses will be taught in one year divided into four terms.
During the course, students will have to go through a compulsory one month internship in the healthcare industry. Aspiring candidates will have to appear for a written test, followed by interviews at the XLRI campus.

Entrepreneurship Summit

Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) will host an Entrepreneurship Summit, on September 3 and 4, 2011 at the IIM Kozhikode campus.

E-Summit 2011 will facilitate interaction between venture capitalists, seasoned and upcoming entrepreneurs, academia and students all across the country. E-Summit 2011 will include a gamut of activities such as entrepreneurial guest lectures and workshops. Furthermore, an investment fair will be conducted, where IIMK students will help the invited start-ups to pitch in front of venture capitalist firms. Learn Mandarin

The Bangalore chapter of the Chinese Institute of Chennai is conducting a 40-hour course that teaches conversational Mandarin, and reading and writing skills in Pinyin.
