Clad in spotless white kurta-pyjama and a deep blue raw silk vest, Sriramulu tried hard to put up a show of resilience ahead of his trip to Chamundi Hills seeking divine intervention.
According to close aides, the former minister, who rose to dizzying heights in the company of Reddy brothers, was supposed to register his ‘BSR Party’, a regional political party in Delhi on Monday. But the sudden turn of events have not only made Sriramulu abandon his plans, at least for the time being, but have also forced the man to pledge all his loyalties to the party.
In a style typical of him, Sriramulu also predicted that the Congress party will not last long and would be wiped out in the next elections.
Terming the CBI as ‘Congress Bachao Institution’, and ‘Chor Bachao Institution’ as termed by other politicians, Sriramulu said the Centre was looking for skeletons in the cupboards of others, while its own cupboard was filled with them. “The Congress has lost the moral right to point fingers at anyone else while it is battling its own demons in the form of 2G Spectrum scam, Adarsha Housing Society scam, the Commonwealth Games among others,” he added.
Commenting on what led to the arrest, Sriramulu asked: “How can they file a case when there was no clear demarcation of a border by the Central body?”
