The palatial house with its priceless furniture, the lush green lawns, costly carpets, giant pillars, exquisite design of the house plan and the fortification of the house with a tall compound wall stunned the investigation team, a policeman on security duty for the team told Deccan Herald.

The hillock behind the residence at Havambhavi in the city, a variety of plants, including those of ornamental flowers, a swimming pool, a mini theatre, air-conditioned rooms and the splurging that has gone into the decoration of the pooja room had the team wondering about the wealth amassed by the former minister. Among the 30 kg gold found in the house of Janardhana Reddy is a diamond-studded chair, resembling a throne, worth Rs 15 lakh.

Diamond ornaments in a variety of designs appeared as though they were straight from the times of the kings. The Rs four-crore Rolls Royce car that the former minister travelled in, only once a year on his birthday, to the Durgamma temple to perform ‘abhisheka’, as also the Land Cruiser, Range Rover and BMW cars, each worth Rs one crore, were also seized by the CBI team.

The probe party scrutinised the high wall being constructed around the house for the past three years, its design and gathered details about the expenditure for constructing the wall.
