Housing policy for city soon

He was speaking after holding a meeting with the MCC and MUDA officials at Vivekananda Institute of Leadership Development here. “There are numerous lapses in identification of beneficiaries done previously. Those benefited from the housing schemes are becoming eligible again depriving the people who deserves the benefit of the government housing schemes,” the minister said.

Ramdas added that it was important that the authorities make a transparent and accurate survey to identify the poor and the needy.

The Aadhar card can be made use to make the list, he stated.

Coordination

The district administration could implement the housing schemes in coordination with various departments and institutes. Presently, there is a demand for 52,000 houses in city.

The government has constructed 24,052 houses under various schemes and 11,548 houses allotted, he said.

According to officials, the MCC and MUDA has provided rehabilitation for 10 villages surrounding the city – providing all basic amenities at a cost of Rs 47.4 crore. MCC is charting out plans for the revival of the housing scheme.

While, MUDA has planned for a group housing scheme for economically weaker sections. Deputy commissioner P S Vastrad, MCC commissioner K S Raykar, MUDA commissioner C G Betsurmath and general manager, Rajiv Gandhi Housing corporation Mahadeva Prasad were present.
