Artistes want creativity to reign; not contractors

Addressing media here on Thursday Harish Bheemaiah alleged that creativity has taken a beating with contractors bagging the main contract for tableaux, that assumes equal significance on ‘Jamboo Savari’ day the last leg of ‘Nada Habba’.

Instead of giving scope for innovative ideas, those at the helm of affairs hire local artistes and complete the job in a hurry. It has eventually removed the sheen off the festivities.
Nanjundaswamy popular as ‘Badal’ alleged though contractors secure a good sum in the name of allocated fund, they spend only a part of it, pocketing the remaining.

“Creativity aided by technology that demands huge investment remains a mere dream when this is the case,” Badal alleged. There are instances of a lone contractor bagging multiple works, again hindering quality product. “Most of the tableaux are nothing but monotonous,” the artiste lamented.

Also, artistes are denied dedicated platform to work, forcing them to work amid no’s most of the time. Be it shelter, power or water, the artistes have to scout, he rued. Artistes H G Kumargaurav, Suresh and Manjunath A R were also present.
