According to a company release here, Forster will, however, continue to serve the Board of the automobile major as a non-executive member.

"I deeply regret that my personal circumstances make it difficult for me to continue to perform the challenging duties of managing the thriving global activities of the Group," Forster said.

Company Chairman Ratan Tata, said: "The Board respects Carl-Peter's personal circumstances that led to this move."  Forster joined the company in January 2010. Apart from the company's local operations, he also headed its overseas units including the UK-based luxury car brands Jaguar and Land Rover.
