For Bhoomika Chabria, art was something which beckoned her always. Though she had her higher education in interior designing, another form of art, she has eventually embraced filmdom.

Now, she is the heroine of ‘Ishta’ a Kannada film, which according to her turned into a reality after three years of hard work.

Bhoomika who was in the city recently for launching publicity rally of the movie, on wheels, bared her heart for City Herald. Asked about the movie- she quipped- it’s a divine love story. The director R P Krishna, also a debutant, was ready with the script, the moment we (including her father and producer of the movie Vijaykumar T Chabria) approached him.

It’s also an interesting story to know what actually led to its making. Bhoomika’s father Chabria had a tryst with theatre being in the company of V Shantharam, a man of yore in bollywood. Owing to circumstances, he migrated to Karnataka 30 years ago. He didn’t even know smattering of the language, but was determined to learn. It was how Chabria fell in love with Kannada cinema, especially thespian of filmdom Dr Rajkumar. It was also how he learnt the language. He also had the desire to make it big on screen one day, but couldn’t. Now, he has his dream fulfilled with his daughter foraying into the world of celluloid, says Bhoomika.

The first shot is still afresh in her memory. It was a comic sequence and I delivered it with ease, she says with a tinge of smile. What makes her proud further is the posters of the movie. Being an interior designer, she also designed the posters of the movie, said Bhoomika pointing at a flex.

Moreover, it’s her mother Indrani who has scored the music along with newcomer M Sanjeev, making it a complete family production. Santosh Swarpi, another new comer is the hero.
