Renukesh (14)  and Nagaveni (12), the children of Anand and Manjula, residents of Tiruvamagondanahalli, were waiting for the bus to Bethel School in Attibele.

A private bus, which was heading from Bangalore via Hosur route ran over the
children.

The seriously injured children are admitted at the hospital and are undergoing treatment.

On hearing about the accident, people from surrounding villages, women, school and college students staged a rasta roko on NH-7 and halted the vehicular movement.
The situation went out of control and the villagers set fire to the private bus, which caused the accident, and protested.

Despite several accidents occurring on the NH-7, the National Highways Development Authority has not taken appropriate action.

The general public and school and college students are rendered vulnerable in the absence of overbridge and underpass, explained the villagers.

SP Mahesh and DySP Shankarappa who visited the accident spot were taken to task by the protesters.

The villagers withdrew their protest only after they were assured of immediate action.
