Argentina forward Aguero took his tally to six goals in four games with a first-half strike and two after the break in a one-sided game in Manchester where the scoreline could have been much worse for the visitors.

Captain John Terry opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 18th minute before Daniel Sturridge, picked ahead of misfiring Fernando Torres, doubled the lead with a cheeky backheel in the second half while Sunderland scored late to set up a nervy end.

Arsenal were finally sent some good luck after a bad start to the season when a blunder
by Swansea City goalkeeper Michel Vorm handed Andrey Arshavin a 40th-minute winner in a 1-0 victory at the Emirates stadium.

Liverpool's unbeaten start came to a halt after they lost 1-0 at Stoke City while Tottenham Hotspur won 2-0 at Wolverhampton Wanderers helped by a goal from debutant Emmanuel Adebayor and Everton drew 2-2 at home to Aston Villa.

Four for Gomez
Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez scored four times and Franck Ribery twice as Bayern demolished Freiburg 7-0 to go back to the top of the Bundesliga. Four days before facing Villarreal in Spain in the Champions League, in-form Bayern kept a clean sheet for the sixth straight match in all competitions as they moved to 12 points from five games.

Gomez, who was the league's top scorer last season, has notched eight goals in five league games. Substitute Nils Petersen completed the rout with a goal in the last minute.

Borussia Moenchengladbach moved into second place with a 1-0 win over Kaiserslautern, while champions Borussia Dortmund lost further ground after slumping to a 2-1 home defeat, their first in over a year, to promoted Hertha Berlin to stay on seven points in 10th place.

Bayer Leverkusen are in third place, also on 10 points, following their 4-1 win at Augsburg on Friday. Hoffenheim moved up to sixth after crushing hosts Mainz 05 4-0.
Werder Bremen, on nine, can join Bayern at the top if they beat Hamburg SV later on Saturday. Schalke 04, also on nine, travel to VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday.

The Bavarians, without injured winger Arjen Robben, needed less than 45 minutes to seal their fourth consecutive league win.  They got off to a dream start after eight minutes, with a quick four-pass combination that culminated in Toni Kroos cutting the ball back for Germany international Gomez to slot home.

Gomez turned provider in the 26th minute, setting up Ribery in the box, who finished with a backheel through the legs of Freiburg defenders.  Ribery struck again four minutes from the break, flicking the ball to the right of Freiburg's Maximilian Nicu and sprinting past him from the left to fire in.  The hosts grabbed two more goals early in the second half.
