J S Khehar goes to SC, Delhi judge acting CJ

Justice Khehar’s swearing-in ceremony at the Supreme Court is scheduled for September 13. The High Court here is gearing up for his send-off.

Justice Khehar, who became the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court in August 2010, was appointed a Su­p­reme Court judge after an apex court  collegium headed by Chief Justice of India S H Kapadia cleared his name for elevation last month.

Justice Sen, who will be sworn in as a senior judge of the Karnataka High Court, will serve as the acting chief justice until a successor to Justice Khehar is appointed.

Born on December 31, 1950, Justice Sen has practised in all courts in Delhi. He has handled civil, arbitration and commercial disputes and has a special interest in minority rights. He was appointed additional judge of the Delhi High Court on July 7, 1999, and became a permanent judge on October 30, 2000.
