A young energetic student and a big fan of Shah Rukh Khan, Abdullah Saeed from Yemen came to the City nine months ago and is thoroughly enjoying his stay here.

Like many others, the first aspect of the City that he likes is the weather. He says, “The weather is really good here.” He is honest that before coming to India, his opinion on the country wasn’t that great.

“I had heard that one may face a lot of problems here but after coming here, I have had no problems at all,” he adds. His cousin had done his Masters here and that’s how Abdullah heard about the City.

Ask him about the problems he has faced in the City, and he says there haven’t been many. “There is a language problem when it comes to the auto drivers and they also charge extra,” he laments.

“Other problems we, as foreign students, face are with the government officials at the Foreign Registration Office,” he adds. Traffic is another problem of course. “But now that I have my own bike, I can manage.”

Due to his Indian looks, many people think he is an Indian. “But once I start talking, they listen to my accent and realise that I am not from here.” He admits that there are many problems existing in his country too.

“There is no system at all over there. There is a problem with the authorities and it can only be sorted if they step down.” However, he makes his love for Yemen clear. “Yemen is the best and I don’t want to be born anywhere else,” he laughs.

According to Abdullah, Bangalore is the best City for IT. “Yemen is a bit slow when it comes to technology,” he says modestly. “But Bangalore works on technology,” he adds.

“I will be going back to my country in a few days but if given a chance, I would love to come here and pursue a career,” he notes. On being asked about Indian food, he jokes on how he doesn’t like vegetarian food at all. “That’s why I am not that fond of Indian food. Besides, I fall sick if I eat too much of spice.”

One more thing which he makes clear is his fascination for Shah Rukh Khan. “I have loved SRK since I was a child. One of my dreams is to just see him, even if it is from a distance,” he says. He admits that he has seen all of SRK’s movies (even the bad ones!).

“Do you remember the film Krazzy 4 in which he did an item number? I have even watched that,” he smiles. “My favourite films of his are Kal Ho Na Ho and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam. I am looking forward to watching Ra.One and ‘Don 2’,” he says. “After SRK, my favourite is Amitabh Bachchan.”

In Bangalore, he loves hanging out at the Matteo Cafe on Church Street and Cafe Coffee Day in Kamanahalli. “I have travelled to many places like Egypt, Qatar and Kenya but Bangalore is the best,” he sums up.
