'Declare holiday on Brahmashri's birth anniversary'

Speaking at the 157th birth anniversary of Brahmasri Narayana Guru in Chikmagalur on Sunday, he said “we should have humane quality. One should strive for the uplift of the poor. Education should be imparted to all. Without education, the life of any individual will be equal to that of animals.”

He said Narayana Guru strove for warding off darkness in the society. The principles and teachings of Narayana Guru should be imbibed by all.

He said Ediga Community members should think of opening Ashrama School, hostel facility in all the district to benefit the poor.

Samithi President K C Shanthakumar said “there is a need to develop unity among the community members.” Arya Renukananda Swamiji was taken out in a procession from the old taluk office to Rotary hall. MLA C T Ravi and other members of the community were present. Various competitions were held on the occasion.
