Cooperate with police: Khehar

Justice Sen was administered oath of office by Chief Justice J S Khehar, who has been elevated as judge of the Supreme Court. Justice Sen will be the acting Chief Justice till the new appointment to the post is made.

At a farewell function, Justice Khehar advised lawyers to co-operate with police in ensuring security on the court premises.

He said: “If you (lawyers) don’t listen to them, they will not be responsible if something happens.”

On his experience as the CJ, he said it was fun dealing with matters related to mining.
“I was not aware of many things like ‘grant’ while dealing with mining lease,” he said.
He commended the legal fraternity for their assistance.

“Punjab and Haryana was a great experience; Uttarakhand was good, but a small state; Karnataka was a change,” he said. Praising the Bar in Karnataka, he said: “ Lawyers here have a culture.”

He appreciated natural and cultural heritage of the State. 

He described his visit to Hampi and Gol Gumbaz in Bijapur, Khwaja Bandenawaz as cherishable.
