4 end lives in City

Jayashree, a seventh standard student of Acharya Pathashala, allegedly hanged herself after her parents asked her to stop watching television and study. She had scored less in the previous monthly test and her parents told her to focus on studies. Upset, the girl hanged herself at her residence in KG Nagar opposite Keshav Shilpa, Chamarajpet.

Krishna Murthy, 38, was found hanging at his residence in Sanjivini Nagar, Kodigehalli, on Tuesday.

He worked as an assistant  at a chartered accountant’s office in Malleswaram. His friends said Murthy suffered from high blood pressure and diabetes. He had also gone into depression and spoke less in the past 15 days, the friends said.

In a similar incident, Raghuveer, 26, hanged himself from the ceiling at his residence in Badrappa Layout, Maruthi Nagar. The police are yet to ascertain more details.

A 21-year-old woman was found hanging at her residence in Pai Layout in KR Puram on Tuesday.

Lavanya took the extreme step as she was harassed by her husband, Puneeth, for dowry, her brother said in a complaint. The couple were married for only a year-and-half and soon after the marriage, she complained of harassment, the brother said.

Boy electrocuted

 A 14-year-old boy was electrocuted while flying kites at Janakiram Layout in Banaswadi on Tuesday.  When the kite got entangled to a live electric cable, Nawaz tried to remove it using a metal pole. He suffered 70 per cent burns and was shifted to the Victoria Hospital where he died.

Youth killed in accident

A two-wheeler rider was killed on the spot when a speeding truck knocked him from behind, near the Ring Road Junction at K R Puram on Tuesday morning.

Susheel Kumar (26), from Hoskote, was going to office when the accident took place. The police said the victim was thrown up in the air and sustained severe head injuries.

One killed in accident

A motorcyclist was killed and the pillion rider was injured in a road accident in Malleswaram on Monday night. The dead was identified as B Srinivas, 45, while Pushparaju is battling for life at the Victoria Hospital.

Police said the accident took place on Gayatrinagar Main Road near the bus stop, when a four-wheeler rammed into the bike in full speed killing Srinivas on the spot. The driver of the car left the vehicle and fled.

Held for taking bribe

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a superintendent of the Service Tax Commissionerate, Bangalore for demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant.

A case was registered against the officer under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant, for accepting the nil report filed by him.

The CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe, in the presence of independent witnesses. The office premises was also searched by the sleuths. The accused was produced before the Special Judge for CBI cases, Bangalore and was remanded to judicial custody.
