'Sriramulu's resignation letter not in order'

Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Manjunath said Congress leader Siddaramaiah has criticised the Speaker for not acting on Sriramulu’s resignation.

“His resignation has not been accepted because Sriramulu has not submitted his resignation in the prescribed format. The letter should contain only two lines. Further, the Speaker holds a responsible position, and it is unbecoming of anybody to speak light of the Speaker,” Manjunath said.

When a reporter pointed out that the letter contained just two lines and the same was shown to the media, Manjunath argued that the same letter might not have been submitted to the Speaker. “Sriramulu had stated that his self-respect was dented and hence he was resigning. Hence,  the resignation was not in acceptable format,” he argued.

The Speaker remained incommunicado.
