High Court notice to Sirajin Basha

Last Updated 16 September 2011, 17:58 IST

Sagar, in his petition, denied the allegations made by Basha in his complaint and contended that Basha had made a wrong submission as Sagar Health Care, owned by him, had not paid any money for denotification of land at Uttarahalli.

Sagar, facing quid pro quo allegations involving family members of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, is named accused no 10 in Basha’s complaint. According to the complaint, Sagar had paid Rs 3.35 crore to Sahyadri Health Care in which Vijayendra and Raghavendra - Yeddyurappa’s sons - were directors. In return, survey no 121 in Uttarahalli village was denotified.

Following the complaint, the Lokayukta court took cognisance and issued summons. The counsel for Sagar submitted that the respondents have not produced a page of the balance sheet, which would have revealed the truth. “The allegation is payment for denotification.

Continuation of page will reveal the truth which says it is not us (Sagar), but two other companies which have paid 3.35 crore,” the counsel said and sought for an interim order.

The court ordered notice to Basha and adjourned the matter.

No extension of stay

The HC on Friday refused to extend the stay on further court proceedings against Lenin Karuppan, named as a prime accused in the complaint by actor Ranjitha.

A lower court in Ramanagara had taken cognisance of the offence against Lenin and others, based on the private compliant filed by Ranjitha. She had accused the former car driver of Swami Nithyananda, and his two associates of attempt to rape, extortion and acts intended to insult the modesty of women.

Application rejected

Advocate General B V Acharya has rejected the application of Bangalore-based advocate, A V Amarnathan, seeking his consent to file criminal contempt of court case in the HC against politician and senior Kannada actor Ambareesh, actors Jaggesh, Vijay and actor and producer Rockline Venkatesh, for helping Darshan by convincing his wife, Vijayalakshmi, to retract her statement before the court.

Amarnathan said  he had not filed the affidavit with regard to Vijayalakshmi retracting her statement. He will submit the application again along with the documents pertaining to the contrary statements by Vijayalakshmi.

In his application, Amarnathan had alleged that the actors used their power and made Vijayalakshmi withdraw her statement.
