Yakshanandana fetes Prof M L Samaga

He was speaking after accepting felicitation from P V Aithal’s English Yakshagana Troupe-Yakshanandana at Town Hall on Friday. Prof Samaga said that he had nothing to rejoice for having been given the post of President, as the post has come with several responsibilities.

“As a President, I must study the expectations of the Yakshagana artistes, artistes from hobby troupes, the researchers and scholars and the government. Pooling together their expectations and working ideas to meet the expectations is a great task before me,” he said.

Meanwhile, he requested the people not to keep too much of expectations from him as it would disappoint them at the end. “I have three years of time to work for the Academy. However, I request people not to expect too much from me as the President post has its own limitations and I am supposed to work within those limits,” he said.

He said that he is confident of doing the job given to him, due to the well-wishers around him. 

Litterateur Erya Laxminarayana Alva stressed on the need for staging Yakshagana in various languages for spreading this art form.

Subramanya Mutt seer Vidyaprasanna Theertha Swamiji blessed the gathering. English Yakshagana ‘Sairandhri-Keechaka’ was staged by Yakshanandana students on the occasion.
