Somalians remanded to judicial custody till August 24

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Mukund Nayak, Inspector, Coastal Security Police, informed that the duo were produced before the court on Tuesday and the court has remanded them judicial custody till August 24.

The case was booked against the duo for not possessing relevant documents and for their illegal intrusion to Indian territory.

Police in the due course of interrogation with the help of an Ethiopian student who is studying in Manipal acknowledged that the duo were out on fishing along with other countrymen in the Gulf strait.

Bad weather detached them from their ship and they made an illegal entry into the Indian territory.

Coastal Security Police have contacted the Somalian Embassy in New Delhi.

The embassy has assured of arranging necessary documents.

It has urged to deport the fishermen to Somalia, Nayak said.
