1 body found, 5 fishermen still missing

Confirming the same to Deccan Herald, Coast Guards official said that one body has been traced and is yet to be identified. The Coast Guard ship Samar which has a helicopter has been carrying out the search operation since the mishap, as venturing deep sea has not been possible using boats available with the Coastal Security Police and the local fishermen.

In the meantime, three family members of those who were sailing in the boat visited Panambur police station and gave the details to the police on their relatives. The family of Narayana Gowda of Koppal, Ramkumar of Vasco and Srikanth of Hosapet had visited the Panambur police station on Saturday. It is said that the family members of Narayana Gowda have already left for Koppal leaving behind one person in the city, as the money which they brought from their native got exhausted. They will come back if they get the body, sources added.

Ramkumar’s son Prathap has come to get any details on his father while Srikanth’s sister’s husband has come to Mangalore in search of his missing brother-in-law.

The Coastal Security Police led by Mukunda Nayak has searched for the bodies of the fishermen in Surathkal, Thannirbavi, Panambur and Ullal shores.

In the meantime, boat owner Ibrahim said that his men in three boats are searching the bodies in the sea. “Our men have gone to Ullal, Manjeshwar and have given details on the missing persons to the local fishermen in the region to inform us if they find any body on the shore.”
