Man killed for not allowing cousin to withdraw as witness

Vedprakash and his associates Sandeep and Surender, who is currently in jail, were arrested for their involvement in the murder of 22-year-old Arun Kumar who was shot dead by two persons on September 5 in Kanjhawala area in north-west Delhi.

Surender has been involved in 64 cases of various natures.

Acting on specific information, police arrested Sandeep and Vedprakash from Rasool Pur in Delhi on September eight and during analyses of their call details it came to light they were in touch with one Surender, who is currently in Bhondsi jail.

During interrogation, Vedprakash disclosed that the victim Arun's cousin was a witness in the murder case of his son.

"He said the deceased was not allowing his cousin to withdraw witness," B S Jaiswal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Outer District, said.
Peeved at Arun's behavior, Ved Prakash and Sandeep contacted Surender and gave 'supari' for Arun.

"Production warrant for Surender was taken and he was interrogated.

He said that he had asked one Naveen along with one Rakesh to eliminate Arun,’ Jaiswal said, adding that the murderers were paid Rs 5 lakh for the job.

Before the murder too, Vedprakash had threatened Arun’s cousin and a case was registered in this connection.

Jaiswal said efforts were on to arrest Naveen and Rakesh.

He said a Maruti SX-4 car, a burnt mobile phone and another mobile were recovered from the possession of arrested persons.
