'Ensure 5 hours of unhindered power'

The MD was in the City to inspect the power problem prevailing in the district and to inspect the functioning of the Corporation, on Tuesday. On the occasion, he held a discussion with the Bescom officials at the deputy commissioner’s office and also with the officials of the district administration.

After discussions, he attended a meeting with the members of the Zilla Panchayat.

All rules, regulations
During the discussion, Mannivannan instructed his officials to provide power connections to the borewells meant for drinking water purpose for the public. As soon as the borewells are sunk and the water is available, the officials must ensure that the power connection is also provided to the same. They should alo follow all the rules and regulations in this regard, he said.

Also, the officials should provide power connections which are due to the borewells which have already been dug, to ensure drinking water to the public, he said and added, under the Ganga Kalyana scheme, the Rs 65,000 electricity bill, which was supposed to be paid for power connection, had been waived off, he informed.

Technical problems
Due to technical problems prevailing at the Raichur and Ramagundam power producing stations, there will be some problems in the supply of electricity, Mannivannan clarified.
He said the power 22 KV power capacity of the power producing centres at Gounapalli in Srinivaspur taluk, Hutturu and Doni Madagu villages in Kolar taluk, had been upgraded to 46 KV.

The managing director said that the recruitment process was being carried out in the Bescom and soon, as many as 1,000 linemen will be appointed. The staff scarcity problem prevailing in the district will be soon addressed with, he added.

More sub-stations
On the occasion, Bangarpet MLA Narayanaswamy said that a power sub-station should be established at the Hutturu hobli centre.

Srinivaspur MLA G K Venkatashivareddy explained about the power problems prevailing in his constituency, at the meeting.

Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar Meena, Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Panchayat N Shantappa and Vice-President G Somashekhara, Bescom Chief Executive Officer Uday Kumar were present.

Helpline for power problem
In case of complaints or grievances in the supply of power among the public, then they can call on - 080 - 2287 3333, to register, reports DHNS from Kolar.
The problems of the public will be addressed within an hour of the registration of the complaint, informed Bescom Managing Director P Mannivannan.
