Police said the body of one Subramanya was recovered from the mound of rubble late last night and have been handed over to hospital authorities. Last evening, rescue workers recovered the body of teenaged girl Kavitha who was earlier reported missing when the building collapsed.

The ten injured in the mishap were undergoing treatment at the Lakshminarayan Nursing Home. "All of them are out of danger, except one," sources said. Bangalore city corporation officials said they would probe all aspects of the incident including whether there was any procedural, administrative and statutory lapses that led to the tragedy.

Police suspect the two-storeyed house collapsed after a domestic cooking gas cylinder burst in the adjoining Lakshmi Venkateshwara Choultry causing a fire. They also suspect the explosion led to a reaction on some chemical substance stored on the ground floor of the collapsed building. The cause for the mishap is being investigated.
