Act against land grabbers, minister directs officials

Speaking at a meeting of commissioners and officials of urban development authorities, he said the authorities should prevent government land, parks and playground from fall in the hands of land-grabbers. Besides, fiscal discipline and resource mobilisation needs to be the focus of urban development agencies, he added.

There should also be no deviation from the Comprehensive Development Plan.

Security beefed up

Meanwhile, Home Minister V S Acharya on Wednesday said the state government has stepped up security measures during Independence Day celebrations. Speaking to reporters in Bangalore, Acharya said there were no threat perceptions, but the government had ensured the all security measures were in place.

The State has also received the advisory sent by the Centre on security measures, Acharya added.
