Six-member squad for Asian golf meet

The Championship, considered to be one of the most prestigious events in Asia with a berth available for the Masters the following year, will be held from September 29 to October 2.

The six Indians in the field will be Chadha, a member of the silver medal winning Indian team at Asian Games 2010 and winner of last year’s Faldo Series Asia, national champion S Chikkarangappa, Trishul Chinappa, Angad Cheema, Honey Baisoya and Khalin Joshi.

Each member of the APGC can field a maximum of six players. The championship will have a maximum field of 120 players. The Championship, organised by the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC), will determine the region’s top golfer of 2011.

Saqib eyes berth
Bangalore’s Syed Saqib and Ankur Chadha from the DLF will be among the front-runners at the Toyota–IGU Faldo Series Qualifier at the Poona Golf Club from Tuesday.

The event is the official qualifier for the Faldo Series Asia. The country’s young stars will also be fighting for points to move up on the IGU Merit list. It will be an intense fight in the girls section where Aditi Ashok will clash with Gurbani Singh.
